Weather in Tenerife

Tenerife has an average winter temperature of 20-22° and average summer temperatures of 26-28°. Perfect temperatures really - never too cold and never too hot. Indeed Tenerife is known as the «Island of Eternal Spring ». The weather in the south of Tenerife is generally hotter and drier than the weather in the north of Tenerife.

The presence of the dormant volcano, Mount Teide in the middle of Tenerife splits the island into two different climates. In the north Tenerife is damp and filled with wonderful luxurious vegetation. In the south the island is arid and dry with more desert-like scenery. In the summer months rainfall is uncommon and June and July are particularly dry. Even in winter months Tenerife does not have a lot of rain.

The most extreme temperatures in Tenerife are to be found in the Teide National Park and in winter months there is often snow on the top of Mount Teide. In the summer temperatures here can top 40°C.
